lo-lee-ta

I think I’m going to watch this tonight. The novel is on my bookshelf waiting to be read, but I haven’t got to it yet. It’s a 1961 edition, so it’s very battered and about to fall apart. I love the smell and feel of old books. As well as various books for college, I’m halfway through Lady Chatterley’s Lover at the moment. I don’t generally like the way D. H. Lawrence writes, actually. It’s a bit… bleh. But admittedly he is pretty good at [love] scenes.
Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta.
(Seemingly everyone except me had those sunglasses a while back. They’re cute.)

I recently watched Lilja 4-ever. What a horrendously tragic (and unfortunately probably very realistic) story. It’s one of those films that lingers in the mind for days and days after watching. I highly, highly reccomend it, but it’s not much fun.
